Hamster help please?

Im going to get a hamster but how do you train the hamster to go into a certain potty area?

You cant really train a hamster to go in a certain area.....he will pick a spot and that will be his spot!!! And rememeber change his/her cage at least once a week!!!!!! Always check to see if he/she has food and water!!!

well you can buy a hamster potty and train it to go in there it sometimes takes a long while unfortunately but if not they will just go any where !!!!!!!i hope this helpz and good luck with your new hamster =)

At the pet store they have potties that fit in the corner of your cage. It's rather inexpensive and helps to keep the cage from being damp or wet. The potty comes with gravel that attracts the hammie to pee in it.

You don't. The hamster mainly poos and pees everywhere you'll see dropping around the cage. But there is an area that is damper than the rest. Hamsters aren't that easy to train to go "potty" they mainly choose the area for themselves. But remember this is the main area where you shoudl change after a couple of days. it gets really damp. But other than that you'll see droppings everywhere.

First, you have to allow the hamster to choose a designated location where it could do its business. Then clean that area often as it happens. If you don't want your hamster to urinate in that area, such as a food bowl, then relocate the food bowl/house to another spot. They usually pick a corner but don't necessarily stick w/ it.

Well you wait until he/she goes to the restroom in a corner. Get one of those little critter liter boxes. Then you put torn up toilet paper or litter in it. If it doesn't know what to do, take some of it's p**p and put it in the box. And also take some of the wet bedding and put it in there also. If that does not work continue to do that but this time out some of his/her favorite treats in there along with the soiled bedding (just put the soiled bedding in one corner in the box and the treats in the other.)

I don't know what everyone is saying! I went to pets mart and they have this thing that you put on the floor of the cage and it attracts the hampster to that area when it has to go. And when the scent finally wears out, the hampster will be trained and you won't have to do it anymore!
