  1. when u hold him see if u can feel a heart beat if not he is dead & i know how that feels cuz that happened to me & I am really sorry for u if he's dead.

  2. see if it has a pulse. if he doesnt then sorry hes gone.

  3. if its stomach is pumping air, then its hibernating, if not.... sorry man

  4. Show mom this

Most adults should be able to tell the difference between a hibernating and slowly breathing hamster and a dead one.

  5. if you mean 'hibernation' it wouldnt be hibernating at this time of the year its too warm

    your hamster is dead :-/

  6. The centrifuge test is a winner!

  7. DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Look it up on the internet to find out whats wrong, if you know the past owner ask them some questions about when your hampster usually hibernates, just tell your mum to leave it until you find out whats happening.

  9. Check for a heartbeat

  10. Sorry to be blunt, but he's either hibernating or dead and it is extremely unlikely that he will be hibernating in July.

You can, however, tell if he's hibernating because if you watch carefully, his whiskers should twitch a little.

If you're still unsure, you need to pick him up and warm him up by holding him in your hands and sort of massage him gently.  If he's alive, he should stir back into life.

If you're still unsure, then you'll know he;s dead if his body goes stiff (which will certainly have happened within a day of the death).

Sorry if I'm sounding a bit blunt and unsympathetic, I don't mean to be, just stating the bare facts about both possibilities.

If the worst has happened, I am sorry for your loss.  I trust that hammy had a good life with you and that's the most important thing.

  11. Give him CPR (joke) , and make sure his warm :D

  12. i would say take it to a vet. some can go into hibernation while others dont. the vet will tell you for sure what is going on with your pet. though it sounds silly, hampster to a vet, its much better then loosing the fury friend.

as for your mother, the professional opinion on your hampster with convince her.

if you believe it is truly hibernation. maybe show her some research from the internet or in books that proves your thoughts.

  13. Hamsters react to sudden atmospheric changes - like a sharp decline in temperature. Depending on the drop in the temperature they acts from stages between sluggish to being stiff and cold. Lack of stimulants like water or food also can contribute to this stage in Hamsters.

Dwarf Hamsters deal much better with colder temperatures than Golden Hamsters.. A hibernating hamster may appear stiff and cold with little evidence of breathing but you can feel their whiskers twiching if observed carefully.

Otherwise, I'm sorry to say hes probably died. Hamsters don't live that long unfortantualy.

  14. is it's chest moving?????????????

    If not it is dead!

  15. put it in a warmer place and see if it wakes up but if you can't see it breathing then....

  16. Hi, i am really sorry but hamsters dont hibernate. If they get poorly they go down hill really quickly. Ask your mum to take him to the vet. If not make sure they are warm and keep trying to feed him water, talk to him and stroke him and let him no you are there. You are a good person and i can tell you have looked after him well and taken care of him

  17. im sorry...but your hamster may have wet tail. I have had two hamsters, and both of them had it. The most humane thing to do, is to get it put down, to stop it suffering.

im sorry to hear about it.

  18. I think it's dead.  I would leave it for a day or so and see if it moves but I'm pretty sure it's dead.  Sorry.

  19. it could be dehydrated, quickly immerse it in cold water for half a second but not the head! If its blue, hands are white wen shud be pinky colour and blood starts coming out of its nose then its defo dead. sorry.

  20. try making it warmer in the house for the hamster if you cant then keep him warm in your hands. If nothing happens in two days ask a vet. If they say its dead........... Sorry Man. :(

    It is x_x

  21. I had a chinese dwarf hampster and the exact same thing happened to me. It is a way tough situation but I waited and waited and nothing. So I finally had to get rid of it :(

Hope this helps and that I am wrong!

  22. Hi =D

Wait a couple of days see if your hamster wakes up.

I'm sorry to say but if your hamster was hibernating then he would be in a comfy place/nest.

If he is heavy and hard when you pick him up then im sorry but things like this happen.

Another thing i would suggest is to try gently blowing him with a hair dryer on the lowest setting, and see if he'll wake up.

    Im sorry.

    Hope this helps!

    xx
