Question:

Hamster might be pregnant?

I have two dwarf hamsters. I was told both of them were girls. I noticed that one of them would follow the other one and sniff her private areas. Then she mounted her. Of course the other one didn't like it, so she attacked her. Then I looked at both dwarves and realized one was a male. I'm not sure if the female is pregnant or not. Also why did the female attack the male? Was she not in heat? Well as soon as I discovered the male, I put him into a different cage. Do you think the female is pregnant?

  1. it could depend on how old she was when she was 'mounted' and how many times they did it as it may take several times before her eggs become fertilized

also how long did you have them before you separated them?

i am not an expert but would pro bally say that there is Wait a likeliness that she is pregnant

    also from book

female won't allow male to breed in her own territory which will show why they were fighting

female hamster comes into season every 4 days

they are usually capable of breeding at 8 weeks

it also says that if you leave them together for about 20 Min's this should be sufficient and I'm guessing your were together longer than this

    if she is pregnant provide

    extra bedding

    extra fresh drinking water

    extra food - protein

they are born after 16 days and there normally is 5 - 7

if you have any hamster books i suggest reading up on breding

    hope this helps

  2. if its preg take all the hamster even the father out shell eat them otherwise
