  1. when our hamster went missing it had made a nest inside the settee, we didn't no untill we pulled it away from the wall to hoover the carpet.

  2. stay really quiet and hopefully you will hear it. its probably scared stiff because its in new surroundings. they tend to be more active in the evening - so sit on the floor and quietly look into all the corners and inside toys. i found my daughters hamster fast asleep in a dolls house once.

  3. Well I lost my hammie once and I put his cage on the floor andit took a long time for me to find him sitting in his cage. This is what to do, get buckets, and ramps tape ramps on the bucket andbut bedding, and fav food in em and make sure the hammie cant get out of the bucket, works like a charm because it will want to sleep in bedding and needs to eat and put a towel under the door to make sure she stays in one room.Check every hour or two. When you find her put her in her cage and if you can put a rock over the cage door. Every time she goes in her ball tape the sides on too! Hope I helped!

  7. I know it might sound horrid but check your pipes. My chinese dwarf hamster went missing as it escaped the cage! Couldnt find it but then a few days later the hot water for the bathroom stopped working. So dad looked and my hamster was dead in the pipe :(

  8. we lost a hamster once but just look for the trail of p**p and sometimes they make nest in  clothes but if your cat is not hungry today then you must  know what happened

  9. We lost our hamster for a week once.  Look for trails of p**p.  Also look in your drawers.  Sometimes they crawl up and into them and make nests from your clothes.  And don't worry, you'll find him.  The best thing you can do is keep the house quiet.  He'll come out if he feels safe.

  10. look in air vents in your house, if they go too far down there, they could die

  11. Here's what you do:

Shut all the doors to the room it is in.  Put some tasty treats in a bucket, but not too deep because dwarf hamster are very small.  Next, pile up some books or boards so that the hamster can climb up to the edge of the bucket, but will have to jump down to get the treats.  Leave it alone in the room with this bucket of food for a while (it is probably scared out of its wits).  Eventually it will go in to get the food and not be able to climb back out.

    Here's a description I found on Hamsterific.com:

Q: My hamster has escaped! How can I find it?

A: Hamsters can be regular little escape artists, but don't fret, hamsterama has the perfect solution. The first thing you should do is close all the doors, and get any other animals such as cats or dogs out of the house if possible. Put piles of your hamsters usual food mix in the corner of each room. Observe which pile of food gets eaten to determine which room your hamster is in. Once you know which room he is in, you can trap him. Take a bucket and put some bedding and some strong smelling food (such as cheese) inside. Then, using books, build steps up to the top of the bucket. The hamster should clamber up to the top, smell the delicious food and fall in, but not be able to get out!
