  1. Campbell's by chance? I can confirm that it's perfectly normal for Campbells. Nursing moms will share a litter. When we breed we purposely breed to moms to have litters at the same time - this lets us remove the male and still have the co-parenting benefit which increases the survival rate of the pups. Even non-pregnant or non-female hamsters (but leaving the males in will get you another litter in 18 days) in the colony will help with raising them. If you need to know which baby belongs to which hamster mom, you can mark them with food coloring - assuming you can still tell whose is whose.

  2. are they syrian hamsters if yes then that is pretty weird they are usually solitary and like being by themselves. but even so they are working together so thats a good thing

    =]

  3. If the moms have always lived in the same cage chances are the sent of them are going to be remotly the same so they may not sense the diffrence. Jut watch to make sure that they dont start eating the babie. they have a tendency to do that!

  4. Whether you have syrian hamsters or dwarf hamsters, it is a definite NO.

Syrian hamsters can never be put together in the same cage whether they have babies or not.

If your two females are dwarf hamsters that have coexisted in the same cage, then also you have to separate the moms into different cages before they deliver babies.

The reason being the babies of one mommy will have a different scent from babies of the other mommy. So you might have a case of one female eating the other female's babies since the smell on them is different for her.

So please separate them immediately! If they are successfully coexisting with the babies, then it is definitely rare!
