  1. You should get a cage that has at least 3 feet of space. I got mine from petsmart, it has three stories and is HUGE!

  2. I got this one for my hamster http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js...

he loved it the wheel , the space and also so he doesn't get bored put cheese , bread under the sawdust so he can dig it up and eat it ..he would like too think hes in the wild :) good luck

  3. Bigger cages are better. They love to run around. If they have a wheel and some other toys and you let them out (to roll around in a ball and that) then a small cage isn't so bad, but it depends just how small.

  4. noo, hamsters need lots of space to run around. get a big one. i got mine at petsmart/petco/any other popular pet store

  5. I wouldn't get one of those little cages, hamsters need a lot of room to run around.  Syrians very often get too big for tubes.  I like tanks (at least a 20 gallon) or a bin cage.  Get as large a cage as you possibly can.

  6. petsmart, if you see nothung there, go online.  I have owned the Crittertrail X, Z, one, Dazzle.  Any of these are fine.

  7. Bigger is ALWAYS better! Many commercial cages are far too small.

Keeping animals in cages that are too small, and do not allow them to fully express natural behaviours, causes chronic stress.

This causes a variety of health and welfare problems, including:

Increased levels of cortisol (stress hormone)

Increased heart rate and blood pressure

    Reduced immune response

    Reduced learning ability and memory

    Muscular-skeletal disorders

    Obesity (and related health problems)

    Abnormal behaviour (eg stereotypies)

    Reduced lifespan

The RSPCA recommends the minimum cage size for a hamster as 75x40x40 cm. http://www.rspca.org.uk/servlet/Satellit...

Of course, you could get a cage with a bit less floor space but lots of levels instead.

Generally I would suggest getting the biggest cage you possibly can - your hammie will really benefit from it, and be more likely to be happy and healthy!

  8. Um, no.

    They need a big cage.

Not a HUGE cage, like a rat cage, but a decent size.

  9. The bigger the better!  They like to have lots of space to roam around, and space to put lots of toys/exercise equipment.  I have two Habitrail cages that are connected together with tubes.  When I had mice, they loved them, and now my hamster loves them.
