  1. well if males and females are living together, then probably. dont buy from pet stores that mix males and females or put males together from now on. they clearly do not know what they are doing

  2. Same thing had happened with my 4 Russian dwarf hamsters from Pets At Home!! (London)

3 pregnant females (very fat looking) & a slimmer dad to be!

    19 babies plus 4 adults= 23 in total !!

Gave some back to Pets At Home, they will take them, but don't expect any money for them, just to be relieved of too much hamsters was more than enough!

Eventually had 10 hamsters left, all in their own rotastak units, end of breeding programme!

  3. if one is a male you should be able to see the testicles very easily but the female may be pregnant anyway even if its two females as soemtimes this happens with pet shops

so either way i would say yes your hamster is pregnant, you need to seperate them now, and leave the pregnant female alone when the pups arrive =]

  4. Ugh what non intelligent pet assistants there are. Unfortunately, this happens way to often.

You may not be able to tell if your hamster is pregnant in the first few days from her appearance but some owners say that she might act differently Hamsters usually give birth between a week and 15 days so you will know soon - you might notice her start to hoard bedding material and food or become more nervous or jumpy. Some hamsters don't build nests right away so this is not a good indication. In the last few days, she should be quite big and it will be quite noticeable if you've been the one handling her prior to the pregnancy and know what she usually looks like. Since your hamster is a Russian Dwarf, its not so likely that your hamster is suffering from fatness because that is usually more common in Syrian Hamsters.

Just make sure that you contact your pet store in which you purchased your hamsters from and report what has happened. Split up the male and the female because they will just keep breeding, Take the babies wither to a vet, shelter, or the pet store in which you purchased your hamsters from, unless you know how to take care of baby hammies and are ready to have 10 more.

  5. I had a problem like this, I just payed very very close attention to my hamsters at all times, and if it is a male and female, they will naturally start mating, even if she is already pregnant. it looks just like it does with humans, just way smaller, and way faster =) lol hope i helped, sorry if i didnt

  6. she most likely is pregnant, pet shops RARELY know how to tell them apart....

  7. Does one of them have a big butt? If so, that's not his butt!

Females tend to have longer bodies, proportionately than males.

Since you've had them a month and a half and one is pregnant now, the other must be male. She didn't get pregnant at the store.

  8. female hamsters tend to be bigger then the males but  their pregnancy's  last about 16 days so she would of had her babies by now if she was pregnant x
