  1. Well, I'm no hamster pro, but I would be happy to TRY to answer your question. You shouldn't get another hamster depending on its breed. Different breeds have different instincts for its surroundings. Some like to stay together as babies, but then fight when adults over food and water and territory. Some hamsters (like my friend's hamsters) love being together and are welcome to sharing.

MOST dwarf hamsters are comfortable living together. Many of the regular hamsters will fight over such things that I have mentioned earlier.

Like all animals, they have personalities as well. The personality will vary on how it feels living with you and how they were raised before you even got it. I have suggested one breed quite a few times: robo.

Robo hamsters don't bite too much. Of course they bite their food and possibly chew toys or else they are aliens. They run super fast!!! But for some reason, I come to think that the big ones are the calmer, easier ones. My friend has a big robo hamster and she can handle it with bare hands and with it not escaping. The small one she has is rather jumpy and behaves like a regular robo hamster. I suggest that when you first handle it, you should do so over a tub or in a pen so you can catch it.

  2. I've been inside of your postiton before. Do not mix other hamsters, they will fight, and possibly kill eachother. If you get hamsters from the same place at the same time then they are used to eachother, but mixing is not a good idea.

  3. i wouldn't put two hamsters together because they like being alone and they'll fight to death I would try gerbils or rats or get 2 hamsters and just keep them in seperate cages like in my house. I have 2 hamsters but they are in 2 seperate cages in the same room and they are fine.

and usually a hamster will only bite a person if you scare, or hurt it.

  4. you can get another if you like but keep them in different cages. same gender. and i prefer teddy bear hamsters. mine lived for 3 years

  5. I am not a hamster expert, but I know that hamsters are solitary creatures, and do not like having a friend around. If you wanted to get two pets, try a mouse or rat.

  6. what kind of a hamster is the one that is still alive?if its a dwarf hamster than you could get another dwarf hamster.but if its a syrian hamster than unless you are going to keep it in another cage than dont.syrian hamsters are solitary and very teritorial.

  7. NEVER put 2 or more syrrian or gold hamsters together in one cage!!!!!! They will fight all the time, sometimes to death!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are solitary animals so if you really love animals do what they want and not what you want yourself. Only dwarf hamsters can be together in a cage and even they still fight sometimes.

  8. What type of hamsters were they?

See if they were syrians/teddy bears, its normal for them to fight. Syrians are solitary animals, and they're very territorial and they will fight to the death if they come across another hamster. Which is why they should never ever be kept together.

So if you have a syrian then no.

However dwarves can be kept together, although they do not need company and still often figh. If your hamsters were fighting before then I doubt your current hamster will accept another. Dwarves usually only get along if kept together from an early age, and sometimes even litter mates fights. My friend kept two litter mates and they fought and one ended up killing the other.

There is no way to know which ones are fightter and/or biters. But I don't think you should get another unless you get a seperate cage.
