Hamster question, please help?

Question

Hamster is only about 4 months old, but its very big. It is a boy ~ it has huge testicles ( is this normal ).

Anyhow last 2 days, he is asleep unless we wake him and he isn't interested in his fresh food, broccoli, apple etc.

He belongs to my 7 year old, is he dying?

Hamsters can deteriorate rapidly if ill.Might be worth getting him checked out.Important to keep cage clean and away from stressful environs like booming stereo's etc.

Hamsters usually live till they're about 4 yrs old (all 4 of mine did).

As for the boys having huge testicles?!?!  Ya it's normal...my boys was big too...

If he's eating the regular dry food (corn/seeds) he should be alright.  If he doesn't eat at all then I would go to the vet.  

I don't think he's dying....

Male Hamster have testicles most men would be proud of!

It's normal, so don't worry.

As for the activity, they won't do a lot during the day and unlike other animals they won't tend to change their body clocks to suit us.

As long as he is active at night then don't worry.

Try to ensure that the bedding is clean and dry, food is fresh and topped up and the water is changed every day.

Also if you can let him out of the cage now and again, obviously supervised though!

He is almost surely sick. That is deffinitally abnormal behavior. I would consult your veteranarian as soon as possible.

Have u changed his diet recently? For example, small 7 yr old girls?

hi there!! wat kind of hamster is he?? its not nomal for them to sleep that much if there's food about it sounds like it mite have cancer!! if its a boy he will have a glan near were we would have a bellybotton  thats some ways of tellin if they r male or famale!! good luck and i hope he of she is ok soon!!

Check to see if he is awake at night. Is he eating his dry food and drinking? Some people don't like ice cream and some hamsters don't like fresh food. If he is hiding away in something and doesn't want to come out, get rid of it. My hamster was spending all of his time in a closed in wheel sleeping and didn't even come out to drink, even at night. The water bottle was always as full as ever. If I hadn't gotten rid of the wheel, I'm sure pauly would have died.

Most boy hamsters have big testicles, so it's fine. If none of this helps take him to a vet in case he is sick.

Boy hamsters have huge testicles, that is normal.  

They are nocturnal, so if you are trying to wake him in the day, he won't like it.

Hamsters like occasional veg, but need dry seed more.  Give him a good hamster mix and plenty of water.  Don't hassle the little fella, he'll be fine.

Maybe if it is very cold he is in hibernation, it happened once to my ham, try to wake him by heating a bit the environment.
