  1. ok. unless you want abies, dont put them together. and dont make sharp movements.

  2. Ah, popular question.

If they launch at your hand whenever you put it in their cage, hold them or pick them up wearing a glove.  Though make sure the glove is clean and smells like you.  That way once they get over you picking them up with the glove, they won't freak when they smell your hand coming into the cage.

Often times it is a trust issue.  Your hamsters do not trust you.  This can be fixed fairly easily though it may take some time.  Put on a glove and put a small treat in the center of your hand.  Lay your hand in their cage somewhere away from where they pee, sleep, and stash food (these areas are their territory and may make them angry with you).  Be completely still.  Let them take the treat and walk away.  Don't pet them or make any noises.  Simply let them come and go.  Moving your hand after being so still will scare them, so don't move it when they approach you.

Handling them is another way.  Pick them out with a cloth or using a glove and handle them.  If you can hold them without the cloth or glove, that would be better (after you get them out).  Daily interaction will ensure that they get to know and trust you.  If you can, try holding them every day at around the same time.  This develops a routine for the hamster and they become less scared.  Give them treats while they are on your hand and don't let them just store it away in their cheeks.  Hold onto it and encourage them to eat it.  Carrots, apple slices and whole peanuts (in the shells-- dry roasted and unsalted) are good treats to use.

Finally, if all else fails, they may just want to be alone with each other.  You can either step back and watch them be together (they might make hamsters though) or you can separate them.  This won't hurt them and if your female gets pregnant, you'd have to do this anyways.  When they're alone, they'll look towards you for more social interaction rather than each other.  My friend had two hamsters that did the same thing until she separated them.  Then they became fairly tame.

Please feel free to email me should you feel like you want to ask a question.  I've owned several hamsters in the past and many other rodents.  I've come to adopt skiddish and abused hamsters, too.  It is possible, it just takes time!

  3. maybe they just want to be alone and you not to bother them i don't know but maybe you should keep them in different cages and give them treats! and let them run in a wheel! hope i helped!
