Hamster scabbish eyes???

HELP!!!!! My hamster has red, scabbish looking things around her eys! She is a year old in September, and has not had her cage cleaned in a while (which we're doing TOMORROW!!!) and she has NO trouble whatsoever opening or closing her eyes. Could it be mites? My mom said that it just looks like irritaion, probably from the ammonia in her urine. Which is normal. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

  1. Take her to the vet.

    I've had three hamsters in my life and none of them ever had that problem. I don't think the urine has anything to do with it.


  2. what type of bedding do you use? cedar or pine bedding? if so, it could have cut the eye. You should never use that in a hamster cage.....
