  1. awe i remember my first hamster was a white one too and named her debbie lol.

dont rush it pls. they will eat brocolli out of anyones hand through the cage doesnt mean ****.

be patitent and just let it bef for atleadst 7 days when i first bring it home, then make sure your hands r clean but no soap and lay your hand n the middle of the cage and let em come to u.

if he bites it doesnt hurt that bad, trust me ive had many =]

  2. You should be able to handle him soon.  Just don't rush it.  Let him get used to everything completely.  I think some good names would be Kosmo, Nala, Chester, Astro, Beeker, and Luna.  Depending on wheather its a girl or boy.  He sounds cuuuute.

  3. You can start handling it once he gets used to you. For that to happen you must talk to him often in a soothing voice and let him get used to the scent of your hand. Then after that you can lightly stroke his fur. After doing this whole process(1-2 weeks) he will be comfortable around you. Then you can put treats on the palm of your hand and he will climb on to eat them (make sure to keep your hand still). Then you can carefully lift your hand up about 2 inches then put him down. Do that for 1 week then he will come onto your hands without any treats. After this you can pick him up and stroke his fur. If you don't like the treat process then you can just stroke his fur then rub his sides and pick him up by his waist DON'T SQEEZE TOO HARD! Then put him in your hand and reward him with a treat.

But leave him alone for 3-4 days at first when buy him so he can get used to his surroundings. (I know it is hard because you really want to spend time with your pet but still, leave him alone.)

OH, leave him in a quite, non-drafty place that is cool and isn't in direct sunlight or under a heater or AC.

I would know because I just got my first robo dwarf hamster 1 month ago, so I learned from my mistakes.

    Hope this helped.

    Guide to taming hamsters -

Taming your hamster can be a long process, don't expect your hamster to suddenly like be handled over night. It can take weeks or even months depending on the hamster. Here the the steps to handling a hamster -

STEP 1 - When you first get your hamster leave it alone for the first 2 - 3 days to let it get used to it's new cage and surroundings. If you pick him up on the first day itself, he will definitely bite you since you are a stranger to him.

STEP 2 - Once the hammy seems comfortable in his new cage, start talking to him softly and hang around his cage enough for him to get used to your voice and smell. After this time feed your hamster some treats from your hand so he get used to seeing your hand. This might take a few days to happen but be patient. If you feel that the hamster still bites you, you can use gloves initially.

PRECAUTION - always interact with the hamster only when he is active. If you touch him or disturb him when he is sleeping, he can get angry and bite viciously.

STEP 3 - Once your hamster seems confident with taking treats out of your hand you can try to start handling your hamster. Before you handle your hamster make sure you have washed your hands well. Hamsters have a strong sense of smell. If they smell something on your hand they may mistake it for food and decide to bite!

Get a cup or something similar and place it into the hamster's cage. He should come to investigate and crawl inside. Take the hamster and cup out of the cage and let him walk out onto your hand. While you do this make sure you're sat down or sat close to the floor incase your hamster decides to jump. Let him walk from hand to hand. Be careful you don't grab or wrap your hands around your hamster until he is fully tame as this may scare him and he will jump out of your hand.

STEP 4 - Once your hamster is more confident with you, you can start to pick up your hamster straight from it's cage. Just make sure your hamster is aware that you are there, if not you may suddenly scare the hamster and it may turn around and bite you.

Best way to hold hamsters is to make them climb into one hand and cupping the other hand softly over the body so that his head pokes out from the gap between your two hands. Remember, do not apply any pressure on his body, he will get scared and snap at you.

  5. i think mocha or coco would be a cute name!

or if its a boy i like bagel!!!

k now on to the  important stuff...............

first if your hamster is still scared, just talk to your hamster so it gets used to your voice. then, you can gently start petting your hammie, and always let him sniff you before you do that. then you can try to gently scoop him up with TWO hands, cuz thats the most comfortable way to be picked up by hamsters.

if he nips at you, hes just making sure youre not food!!

if he still wont let you pick him up, put your hand next to him with some treats on your hand and let him walk on your hand!! Tada!!

good luck and hope i helped!!

  6. Hi! Well, when your hamie is familiar with you, you can start by handfeeding some veggies, or fruit. Next time, you can try holding your hamie. pet it softly with your fingers, and you can brush your hamie with a hamie brush, or a very soft toothbrush. When you do this often, and hand feed it while holding it, and pet it, it will start to like you. If it bites, put it back in it's cage, and try again later. Don't be scared to handle it again, or you may never tame it. It will start to like you, if you play with it often, and give it toys, and give it lots and lots of love. Then you can let it run around a bit, and start playing with toys, and play with your hamie often! Syrian hamies can be tame for life. But if your hamie is a dwarf, you have to play with it often to keep it tame. Whatever you do, give it lots and lots and LOTS of TLC!
