Hamster travel question.?

My hamster has no where to go so i have to take him with me.

I need to know the best way for them to travel during a 4 hour car ride.

If you have to remove the water bottle for travel because it leaks with the motion, you can put a small peice of moist fruit (like an apple), so that your pet still has access to water at all times.

Be careful of how hot the car gets - especially if you turn it off to stop for lunch, gas, etc. Also, make sure whatever your cage is sitting on doesn't get hot - we moved cats in a moving van (inside it not in the back) once and discovered that the hump got very hot!

Another thing to watch for - whats in the cage can move. I'd pull out ceramic dishes and such that way if you have to make a sudden stop that your pet doesn't get hit with it.

But just keep him cool

Plenty of water and food

and try not to make the car ride so shakey

they could get sick

Keep her ride smooth as possible.  Make sure that her water bottle doesn't leak all over the place.  If you take it out, make sure to give her time to drink every once in a while.   Supply her with food and she should be fine.

I have a hamster and it travels back and forth with me to college. I leave it in his cage, and make sure it's tucked in the backseat where it won't move or tip over. If the cage is multilevel, anything that can fall such as a food dish should be put on the bottom. Also make sure the cage is straight up so the water can still be drank out of. A towel that you don't care about (hamster sometimes chew them) can be placed between the car seat and the cage to make it straight up.

i took a chinchilla on a 6 hour car ride.... it wasn't very pretty. she peed and pooped all over her cage because she was scared. also take the water bottle out and only give it to them when the car isnt moving because they tend to leak. make sure the air conditioning is on it. and hope every thing goes smoothly

leave him at home!!!u shold try to get somebody to check on him every day and refill the food and water....Hamsters h8 car rides...
