  1. Scrap the whole plan of gebils vs. hamsters and get a pet rat.

    1) Rat

    2) Rats can be trained to p**p in a litter box, reducing smell

    3) Rats are friendlier than either.  The 'want' to be with you and will wait at the door to come out and sit on your shoulder.

    4) Rats are active when you want them to be.  Again, they love to socialize with people.

    5) Rats much easier to look after.  Can learn to come when called by name.  Especially important if they ever got loose.  Try that with a hamster or gerbil - not going to happen.

    6) Rats love love love to be held.

    7) Rats are super cuddly.  Hands down.

extra info. - you're 10x more likely to get bit by a gerbil or hamster.  Rats rarely, if ever bite.  Try  them out wherever you get your critters from and you'll see what I mean.

Good luck with your decision.  : )

  2. 1) Which Would You Recommend Me Getting ? (Hamster Or Gerbil)

    Hamster :)

    2) Do Gerbils Smell ?

Well, if you clean their cage..

    3) Which Is Friendlier? (Hamsters Or Gerbils)

    Hamsters for sure! :)

    4) Which One Is More Active ? (Hamsters Or Gerbils)

Gerbils MAY do more stuff but hamsters you can hold and they are just WAY better.

    5) Which Is Easier To Look After ? (Hamsters Or Gerbils)

About the same, try to get a cage with a wheel or things you can pop off, if they don't it will be hard to clean the whole cage. Therefore it may get smelly.

    6) Which One Likes To Be Held More ? (Hamsters Or Gerbils)

    Hamsters :)

    7) Which One Is More Cuddly ? (Hamsters Or Gerbils)

    Hamsters

The gerbils my brother had were fun to watch but, they acted like they drank sixteen energy drinks so it was hard to take them out and hold. Actually my brother NEVER held them because they scared him. Maybe it was just OUR gerbils, other people swear their's aren't like that.

ALSO: Hamsters are desert animals too. Just so you should know.

    Heres care info for hamsters:

ALSO if you get a hamster get a teddy bear hamster, in my opinion they are much nicer/cuter than regular ones.

    7) Which One Is More Cuddly ? (Hamsters Or Gerbils)

    HAMSTERS !!!

sorry i couldnt be more help :) if you get a gerbil you have to get more than one. for hamsters it depends which type you get - eg. syrian hamsters only get 1 or they'll fight. dwarf hamsters - reccomended you get more than one :-)

Ps. hamsters wont bite you unless you annoy them or they feel threatened (or if you stick your finger in there cage as i found out! :L)

  9. 1. Gerbils but get 2 or more

    2. Hamsters smell way worse, take it from someone who cleans a LOT of each out

    3. Gerbils are friendlier, hamsters just aren't naturally social

    4. Gerbils are more active during the day than hamsters are and just more fun to watch

    5. Gerbils cos pretty much everythings told to you in the right detail in gerbil books

    6. Gerbils, hamsters just aren't social, mind you you will have to train them cos they can really jump

    7. Gerbils, hamsters bite more

  10. 1) i recommend a hamster                                                                2)they both smell the same                                                               3)hamsters are friendlier i think                                                        4)hamsters are more active i know that for a fact                          5)gerbils are easier to take care of                                                 6)hamsters are like to be held more                                               7)hamsters are more cuddly

  11. 1)depends, what you want, do research on both and then decide :)

    2) no. gerbils do not smell

3)hamsters are more likely to bite but gerbils are harder to hold...

    4)gerbils are more active

5)both are very easy, but you don't have to clean a gerbil's tank as much as a hamster's tank

    6)hamsters

    7)hamsters

    Good luck!

  12. GERBILS!! I've got 11~ there great!!

    1) kinda already answered

    2) gerbils smell less than hamsters and can be toilet trained to one spot

    3) both are friendly it depends on hw much time you spend with them

    4) gerbils- they run about all day

    5) both- you do need to play with them alot to make them really happy

    6) both ~ it really depends on their personalities mum likes to play where as dad likes to be held(gerbils) hamsters are blind so they might bite if spooked.

    7) hamsters just sit.... whereas gerbils wriggle abit but not so you can't control them!

  13. 1)Gerbil

2)Not as much as hamsters, as gerbils are desert creatures so don't pee much, therefore not as much smell

3)Both are friendly but as hamsters are generally sleepier and slower they are easier to hold

4)Gerbils definitely. They are not nocturnal, and only sleep in little bits throughout the day and night, so there's more time to play with them

    5) I would say gerbils, just because they don't smell as much and therefore don't need cleaning out as often as twice a week (like hamsters)

6)Hamsters will put up with being held more than gerbils in my opinion

7)Again hamsters, but gerbils are way more fun to watch, especially if you get 2 (as you should as they don't like being alone) and a tank for them to dig around in.

Hope this is what you're looking for!

  14. I've had a hasmter and a gerbil, and i think there the same in what your asking.

I would get two onw of each.
