  1. My hamster has that : ) dont worry, i dont think it is anything bad but if you are worried, see a vet.

  2. If the patch is near her hips it could be one of her hip-spots. Hamsters have a scent gland on each side of their body which they rub against things to mark their territory. Your hamster may only be using one side.

Sometimes they l**k their hip-spots during grooming to make them wet.

  3. What you are probably observing is the scent glands; theses are situated on the hips / flank of the Syrian hamster. Although they are more prominent in the male than the female, they both groom theses areas and sometimes they may appear to be wet or greasy.

The greasy appearance comes from the secretions of the gland; (there is one on each side) it may become more obvious on the female as she comes into heat.

Have a look at this,  http://funshare.netatronix.com/hipspot.j...  if it is in the same place then it is nothing to worry about, it is quite normal.

  4. She may be allergic to something your feeding her or she may be sick take her to see the vet =]

  5. Patches of greasy fur in hamsters is quite common. It is genetic and there is nothing we can do about it. In these cases, some hamsters have portions of fur that look greasy (as though it is wet) but when you touch it, the portion is dry. As long as there she is eating and pooping healthy and is active, there is nothing to worry about. You can put a dish of chinchilla sand (not dust, dust is not good for hamsters) in the cage for her to roll on. It may remove the greasy feeling on her back when she rolls in it. Change the sand every week.

  6. You may not be feeding her a correct diet. Diet affects hair. Golden Hamsters should have a simple diet of hamster mix, fresh fruits, and vegetables. The mix should be supplemented daily with small amounts of fresh vegetables such as carrots, cabbage, celery, cauliflower, and broccoli. Give commercial hamster treats sparingly.

A vitamin supplement will ensure your hamster receives all the necessary vitamins and minerals. Since hamsters are nocturnal, it is best to feed them at dusk, when they wake up.

  7. Perhaps she just got something on it or rubbed against her water dropper?

  8. She probably just got something on her fur and can't reach the area to groom it. It could be water, or juice from the fruits and veggies, or even urine. Get a cloth and dampen it with warm water. Then just gently rub the area to get the substance off, use a dry part of the cloth to dry it off a bit. I'm sure she'll be just fine.

I must say though, you should cut back on the fruits and veggies. They shouldn't have fresh produce more than once, maybe twice a week. Too much can cause stomach problems, which can lead to wet tail. And wet tail is usually fatal in hamsters. I know you want to give her treats, but too much can harm her. Maybe you can buy some small hamster treats at a pet store, ones that are mainly made of a dry hamster food. These will still be very much appreciated, but not as harmful. Hope I could help!
