Hi, I have two hamsters in a cage, and I need to know... Is it true that some female hamsters actually kill the male after successfully mating? It would mean the proper care for two very sweet hamsters if someone would answer this question.

  1. ok, let them mate, then after they loose interest separate them immediately. it's not that she'll just kill him for no reason, she gets aggravated they fight, and usually the female wins by killing the male.

contact me at this address for more information(i breed hamsters)

  2. mebbe you should let them mate. then seperate them and look it up on a certified website. or see a vet or pet store!

  3. What type of hamster?  Syrians are very territorial, and will often fight to the death any newcomer on their territory- male or female.  This doesn't really hinge on mating, but just wanting to not share space.

Occasionally, they can bully each other, and one can keep the other from eating or drinking, which would result in the slow death of one.

Really, I wouldn't recommend housing them together or attempting to breed unless you're much more knowledgeable on how, and most importantly, why and what you should be breeding.
