Hamstring injury: Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed snubs fears of longer absence – NFL News
Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed, who had an impressive start to the season by giving a game-winning performance against the Cincinnati Bengals on past Monday, has ruled out a possibility of a longer absence with a hamstring injury he suffered in the game.
Reed hurt his hamstring while returning on a reception. He was helped to the sidelines and later went into the locker room for inspection by the team’s medical staff and did not return for the rest of the tie.
Although the player appeared to be fine and walked without any notable issue on the sidelines after the inspection, he has now officially confirmed the injury is not a serious one and he should be hundred percent and ready for the next game.
The player said:
“It strained my hamstring trying to dive. You know I'm 34 in two hours. Father Time does catch up with you. It's good, it's good. It's minor."
He was quick to categorically deny the fears of any longer absence from the game, and said he has already made himself available for practice and training.
The latest injury scare is one of rare occasions that the safety has made the headlines for an uncontroversial reason. He otherwise caused a stir in media during offseason with contrary views on the future prospects.
At one time, all commentators believed that the player was certainly heading for retirement, but he later emerged to boast prospects of playing for another half decade, at least.
He insisted his remarks of having some time off the field were mistakenly linked to his retirement. His performance in the season opener has now proven him nowhere near to giving up on his fitness and form.
It is pertinent to mention here that Reed is due an extension into his current contract, which runs out at end of this season, and a look over his fitness and performance shows he well deserves it.
Also, he seemed to have moved on the speculative retirement plans, and it is now down on the Ravens to land him a new deal if they consider him worthy of playing for them for a couple of more years at least, if not five years that he has claimed.
