Hamstring injury: Tests clear QB Blaine Gabbert for Jacksonville Jaguars vs Indianapolis Colts – NFL News
The Jacksonville Jaguars have confirmed that injury of quarterback Blaine Gabbert is not a serious blow and if it does not aggravate for the rest of the week he is most likely to be available for this weekend’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.
Blaine left the field in the game versus the Houston Texans on past Sunday, apparently with a hamstring injury. He was inspected by the team's medical staff but did not return for the rest of the game and was replaced by backup QB Chad Henne.
He had MRI scans on the leg on Monday, and according to coach Mike Mularkey, scans results have shown the injury is not a serious one and it is most likely that the player will be taken back into the side for this Sunday’s game against the Colts.
The coach, however, has hinted at keeping Blaine limited in the team's practice this Wednesday just to avoid the possibility of any complication to the problem, which should guarantee the player for the forthcoming game.
Mike said:
"I think it's going to be something that's going to get better each day. He'll be stiff and he will loosen up each day."
Blaine could not finish the Texans’ game due to the injury, which as a matter of fact provided some sort of relief to him as he had not been able to perform well on the field. He ended the game with the fewest-ever yards, 53, in the record book.
Due to their miserable showing against the Texans, the Jaguars have fallen at the bottom of the offence rating chart of the National Football League (NFL). They could manage to score only seven points in the entire game, and it is probably the franchise’s
lowest-ever figure.
Away from injury problems, the time is running out for Gabbert, as a couple of more failings will certainly make the team to have another evaluation of the player’s prospects and give second thought to his stay in Jacksonville.
He had been warned by Mularkey at the time he joined the team as a coach in January this year to improve or else think of alternatives. Although the coach overall is satisfied with what Blaine has achieved so far, slumps in his performance like one of past
Sunday’s game might not help the quarterback's case in the longer run.
