The All Blacks pivot has been suffering from the same injury since last month. The decision of his exclusion from the side was made by the Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder on Wednesday morning. The coach told reporters that there was huge risk involved regarding his inclusion for the upcoming match against the Stormers. Blackadder said that Carter will miss the game along with Ben Franks due to their respective injuries. The news has significant importance for the Stormers who can utilise the absence of key players in their opponent’s line-up to get a foot up on the competition. The Crusaders coach stated that Dan was recovering at a good pace but he was not 100 percent fit to go out on the field. Blackadder asserted that compromise could harm them in the forthcoming crucial matches and team management had decided to keep him away from the pitch. He added that the pivot will be tested again on the coming week before facing the Cheetahs which will determine his position in the side. The Crusaders have been playing without one of their best players for the last few weeks and it has affected their performance in the current Super Rugby competition. The Crusaders have been placed fourth overall on the point’s tables and are second among other New Zealand derbies. They have won seven matches in the Super Rugby after ten outgoings and shared match points with the Hurricanes after a deadly quake hit their city of Christchurch on February 22nd.The Crusaders have been facing injury problems more than usual this season. Earlier on, the Crusaders had lost a match to the Highlanders due to numerous injuries on April 23rd. They were outclassed by the Highlanders 26-18 as they were missing their skipper Richie McCaw along with four other key players.
