Han Xinyun defeats Marina Shamayko to clear qualifying second round – e-Boks Sony Ericsson Open 2011
World number 153 Han Xinyun of China outplayed world number 426, Marina Shamayko of Russia in her second round match of the qualifying draw at the 2011 e-Boks Sony Ericsson Open on Sunday, being played here at the Farum, Denmark
and earned a comprehensive win with a 6-0, 7-5 scoreline.
The Chinese tennis ace kicked off the opener on a very defensive note and made her Russian opponent suffer with her high degree of aggression. But she quickly retreated from the aggression when her Russian opponent put up a great
fight in the second set to make things challenging for the Chinese. However, the Chinese pro did not allow the Russian to exploit her weaknesses and fought hard to come out on winning side with a whopping difference of 22 points in total.
Xinyun swiftly moved all around the court and executed her angles to perfection, while producing some splendid shots on both sides of the court. The Chinese never allowed Shamayko to settle down, as she snatched the first set without
allowing the Russian to win a single game. Xinyun smacked 65% of her first serves in and gained 84 percent points to win this contest exactly in 120 minutes.
Shamayko conceded a bagel in the first set, as Xinyun overpowered her and did not allow her to win a single game. Xinyun fired 73 percent of the first serve and converted 82 percent of them into points to win the set on a convincing
note.
The Russian put up some resistance in the second set as she forced the scoreboard to tick on even terms for the first ten games. It was only in the eleventh that Xinyun caught a lucky break before serving out the set at 6-5, sealing
her straight sets victory.
Emerging victorious today, Xinyun has now improved her win loss mark to 6-14 matches. Moreover, the Chinese pro has also extended her head-to-head series and now stands at a lifetime 3-0 edge against the Russian.
Xinyun now moves on ahead to face Alexa Glatch of America in the final round of the qualifying draw on Monday. Xinyun and Glatch have never met each other at any of the WTA (Women Tennis Association) tour and this will be their
first meeting ever. Glatch battled past Emma Laine of Finland in the second round of the qualifying draw to make it this far.
