Indonesia’s Hana Ramadhini advanced into the next stage after defeating country-mate, Intan Dwi Jayanti in the Women’s Singles qualifying round of the 2011 Indonesia Open Grand Prix Gold, in East Kalimantan, Indonesia, on Tuesday, September 27.
The talented Ramadhini played wonderful badminton against her compatriot and finished the match in three sets by taking 50 minutes in the court. Jayanti played well but not enough to get rid of her opponents who controlled the pace in the deciding game and
won the battle in rubber games.
Jayanti opened the first set in a planned manner as she played with deception by picking the bird early at the net. Her domination at the net disturbed the flow of her rival in the first-half of the game and she remained successful in reaching at 11-7.
After the break, Ramadhini reduced the difference by playing to her maximum potential and Jayanti, on the other hand, became slower as the match progressed. However, in the concluding phase, Ramadhini committed many unforced errors and lost the game with
the difference of 15-21 in 15 minutes.
In the second set of the match, Ramadhini played different badminton this time and anticipated all strokes of her opponent. Her wonderful anticipation coupled with perfect execution of strokes earned her the upper hand in the game. Until the break, she was
leading the set by an 11-8 margin.
After the interval, Jayanti tried to level the score by employing different strategies and tactics, but she failed to stop the aggressive run of her challenger. Ramadhini won the second game by a 21-18 margin in 19 minutes and levelled the score by 1-1 set
each.
Both shuttlers played aggressive badminton in the final game and remained close until the interval, where Ramadhini was ahead at 11-9. However she increased her speed in the second half and remained successful in grabbing the final game with the margin of
21-16 in 16 minutes. This Women’s Singles qualifying-round contest ended in 50 minutes with the score of 15-21, 21-18 and 21-16.
