How can you tell if its time to feed the baby cockatiels with the formula by hand? Do you feed them every hour?

  1. This is the feeding schedule we follow.  6am,10am,2pm,6pm,11pm.  After that they go to sleep.  if they get hungery inbetween they will let you know they will really start yelling.  However they do really good with this schedule.  Best of luck.

  2. Depends on the age of the cockatiels, but I believe that those under two weeks of age need to be fed every two hours from 6 AM to 11 PM, and once during 3 AM -- the rule of thumb is that you feed them whenever their crop (the pouch under the neck) is deflated. Go to http://www.parrotplace.ca, locate a cockatiel breeder (there's an entire list of them), and ask them what to do. I'm sure they'll help out a lot. If you're a beginner, I strongly recommend that you only handfeed cockatiels under the guidance of an experienced breeder.

    >> Food for thought -- breeding birds commercially (for profit) is inhumane. There are so many abandoned good birds out there, and breeding even more birds for your own profit worsens their condition and their future generations'.
