Hand injury leaves netminder Craig Anderson unsure when will return to Ottawa Senators-NHL News
Ottawa Senators’ netminder, Craig Anderson, has refused to take his chances on hand injury to rejoin the squad at this time and stands risking the problem further.
Anderson said at present it was impossible for him to ascertain his return, which is going to be rather difficult before full recovery from the injured finger of his right hand.
The player injured his figure accidently while preparing a meal at his home about a week ago and since then is working on the recovery.
He had to have surgery on the hand to repair a severed tendon, and according to his latest status, he is yet not being able to hold the stick, which leaves him out of the side for a few more days.
Although, there is not timeline on his return, he might be able to report his joining to the team within a week.
Before that, he said, he would like to be hundred per cent and avoid risking the injury further by joining the squad in a premature phase.
Craig Anderson, while commenting on the problem, said on Thursday, March 01, 2012, that he was keen on returning to the team but would not do so until complete recovery.
He also refrained from providing more details on the incident, except for that he injured the finger while preparing the food at his home.
Since the injury was of the serious nature, the recovery required immediate and thorough medical care. It needed to have a surgery immediately, he said.
The team management confirmed the incident last Thursday and informed that the player was receiving treatment in a local hospital.
There was no word around the player’s accident from them. They had neither commented on anything about his recovery and return.
The team also brought in Robin Lehner from the minor league to serve as Anderson’s replacement.
Lehner is going to keep Stars’ net in their next game against the Chicago Blackhawks scheduled for Friday, March 02, 2012.
None of the officials from the team’s frontline office or even coach has spoken about the impact the side might be feeling in absence of their main goaltender.
The game analysts have earlier remarked that Lehner was no solution to the absence of Anderson in the longer run, and the young netminder can only be effective as a makeshift arrangement for a couple of games.
If Anderson’s recovery process is prolonged, it might hurt the team’s ongoing run for the playoffs, and especially after the trade deadline of February 27, 2012, there is no chance for them to shop the long-term replacement.
There is no confirmation if the team has already been pondering upon the alternative options to be ready to meet any situation before hand.
