Hand of the day XVI?

once again, it's a tournament situation...the table is 8-handed and you have about 115k in chips and blinds are 800-1600 with a 200 ante...the utg+1 player opens for 6100, and immediately on his left you call with A-Q of clubs...the small blind also calls, and the big blind, who is known to be a very good and very aggressive player, moves all in for 33k more...the original raiser folds, and now it's up to you...you have the small blind well covered, what is the play?

  1. go all in

  2. You are getting 2-1 odds and the player is aggressive.  You didn't say the size of the small blinds stack so you either call or move all in to isolate depending on stack size

  3. Smells like a bluff. Your hand is solid, I would call.

  4. I think it's a fold.

The reason being is that we called the initial raise already. And the small blind as well so there was potential for 3 other players with nice hands. So if he's a very good player he knows that theres a good chance that someone has a great call worthy type of hand. So therefor he's only gonna push with a top hand. Good players don't like going in from behind.

Also, if we win, winning $30 thousand doesn't change are stack nearly as drasticaly as losing.

If we win we have $140k as opposed to $105k if we fold. A little improvement, but not alot.

If we call and lose, we are down to $70k with blinds and antes rising. A huge swing.

I would put him on Ace King or pocket Kings. If he had Aces, he'd probably reraise like 15k more to try and entice 1 caller instead of pushing it.

  5. Time to fold.  There is still one player behind you.

  6. BB moved all-in with 33K, which brings the pot to over 50K, and it costs you 27K to call.

If you call, the SB should also call (or go over the top all-in) because he'd be getting 3-1 on his money.  With his following the 6K raise and call, he's got to be sitting on a real hand.

The BB knew all this and bet anyway.  While it's possible he's just taking his last best shot with a mediocre hand, 33K isn't desperate enough to make that an easy read.

It smells to me like he knew his all-in would be called, and he bet it anyway.  I'd give him credit for real strength.

    I'd fold.
