here's a smaller, but still interesting, hand from three-handed play...we are in gus' seat once again, blinds are now 50k-100k with a 10k ante...andy black, who is the short stack, limps in from the small blind, and in the bb we try to steal it with 8-6 offsuit raising another 220k, and andy calls...the flop comes down 10-6-3 rainbow, and andy leads out for 400k...he has been clearly card dead throughout three-handed play and may be getting a little frustrated...after his bet he has 1.77 million left, and we have 2.8 million with the decision to us, what is the play?

  1. i'd say go all in, i think andy has nothing. if he had something, he would have a) raised from the sb, and b) would have checked a good hand knowing gus would bet. i'd be relatively certain he had Ax, but not as good as a10. therefore, worst case scenario, he has a6, but I think more likely he has a3, and an all-in would probably get him to drop either one.

however, there is also a possibility that he has a small pair that may have hit trips (call-call-bet usually indicates this.) If gus wanted to play it safe, he could just bet double to see what happens.

  2. Andy's bet looks like  a steal attempt because this flop is very dry and uncoordinated. Because of this, I like to call. Raise protects our hand, but it has two drawbacks:

    a. He cant 2 barrell

    b. He never folds better

  3. If he's getting frustrated, then I'd raise about 550k more. This makes it look like we have a monster hand and want him to push it all in. After our initial raise and then this raise of 550k is a strong play. So this should do 1 of 2 things. Make him go all in which would tell us we're probably beat and we can fold (although a tough fold with mid pair 3 handed) or he will fold and get more frustrated and which case that's a double win.
