let's say you make the call preflop in the previous part(i know no one chose that option, but):

and all others fold...the flop comes 5s-6c-7s, and your opponent leads out for 1,000 into the 1,500 pot...what's the play?

  1. i would say he has over cards and thinks ur chasing a flush/straight and is trying to buy the pot....

with your chip stack i would go for it

  2. If I made the call in late position, I might reraise to see where I was at.  I'm hoping when he made the raise, he was doing it with AK, AQ, etc. and missed his flop....and hoping he wasn't raising with a big pair.

  3. WTF is with the sabes 99 (rock u). Haha. Why cant u have sabes99 (texas holdem u)?

Anyways, I would like to answer number 1 too. You seem to choose best answer so fast nowadays. Whats the rush man? Give dunhate235 a chance will you?

"part 1 is pre-flop, so it's pretty simple...blinds are 100-200 with no ante early in a big tourney, and both you and utg lead the table with 45k in chips...utg, who has played pretty tight so far, raises to 600 and you have 5-3 of clubs in the cutoff...what do you do?"

This would be an insanely easy spot if it was 54 instead of 53. In this situation there are 4 things that stand out in favor of just calling instead of folding.

    1. The oppenent is tight. This is actually a good thing because there is a higher chance the oppenent has AA.

    2. The oppenent raised utg. People that are tight dont raise utg without something.

    3. WE have position. If you have played poker for one week, you probaly understand how important this is. A draw is 10x better with position.

    4. We are more than 200 bb deep. There are some good implied odds here. I read in a 2+2 article (with a shitload of calculations to prove the point) a while back that suited connectors can flop a monster draw (straight flush draws, pair+ fd, overcards + fd) the same amount of time a pocket pair can flop a set. With a pp we would call in this spot. Why not with a suited connector? Obviosly, we dont have a suited connector, but a 2gap connector. The stacks are still deep enough for at least a break even call. Addd in the above factors and its definitly a call.

    FLOP

I actually think flop is easier than preflop. On the flop its a call after ten seconds of thought. At least 1/4 of utg's range didnt hit this flop. KQ, AQ, AJs (maybe), KQs, AKs, AK. Utg probaly c-bets at least 75% of the time with his whole range on this flop. Our bottom pair beats at least 1/4 of his range. We also have a backdoor flush draw and a the worse straight draw.

the verdict: call flop, fold all nonclub turns.

  4. sorry man, this is out of my league. i usually don't give myself the opportunity to try to play from bottom pair. but, after flipping this coin, i'll say go for the rope-a-dope: call, call, big reraise.
