Hand sewing a quilt for kids to make?

I've made blankets before but never a quilt. What would be the easiest way to teach a 12 year old to hand sew a quilt?

Amazon.com has a book Easy Quilt projects for Kids. I think that would be easier to start with a Quilting Project verses a whole Quilt ;)))

You might want to look into using a sampler kit that I use to teach students 12 functional hand stitches.  There are projects in the kit that reinforce their stitching knowledge, and one project happens to be a quilt patch.  This kit is a curriculum that is printed on cotton, color coded and comes with a DVD that illustrates each stitch.  You may view the material at:
