Hand taming adult budgies

Question

Has anyone had any luck with hand taming adult budgies? If so, can you share your methods? I've clipped the wings and have given the bird some time to appear comfortable in his new cage but I'd love to be able to get him to the point of being hand tamed.

i have 2 PARAKEETS and we got them really young and they are sooooo timid and even if you walk near their cage they will go wild. those birds are just dumb!!!

Simply put, give the adult your love, respect, and attention. Baby budgies are new and their social interactions vary around different people because they are open minded and whatnot. An adult on the other hand has lived for quite some time and it may take awhile for it to gain the trust of you.

Continue to show it love and attention and surely it will gain your trust and it will develop a bond for you.

Start by puting your hand in the cage first. Don't let it out until BOTH of you are ready. Hand feed it fresh fruit or small amounts of millet. Try to get it to sit on your hand when it eats; hold up your finger and gently nudge it. Tell it to come up.

Once your budgie is comfortable riding around the cage on your finger, let it out.

Every time you pass the cage, take the budgie out, and let it sit on your hand. Do that for about a week. Then the week after, do the same thing, but limit the number of times you take him out. Maybe 5 times a day. So, every week daily, you should take him out and let him sit on your hand, and each that passes by, limit the number of times you do so. At first, if he doesn't let you take him out, just place your hand in the cages, and let him sit on your hand, so he's still comfortable in his habitat. If he bites, and your not comfortable with that, maybe try wearing gloves. If he simply doesn't want to sit on your hand, hold a treat in your hand too.

Simple try handling him every day, even if he doesn't particully like being handled, then over time he will warm to being handled.

Also everytime he does let you pick him up and handle him give him a treat, then he will learn that every time he is handled he gets a treat, then this will make him tamed.
