  1. You should be using the handbrake every time you park.Either manual or automatic transmissions.Yes,automatic transmissions have Park, but that's for the transmission,to not move, which doesn't allow the car to move. But most people just use the transmission as a parking brake to hold the car in place. The transmission wasn't designed to hold the weight of the car, that's why if you park on a hill the car will keep lurching, but most people just ignore what they are really supposed to be doing,or have never been told,to not use the transmission as a parking brake.

  2. It should work. When parking on steep hills it's a good idea to use it. It will take the load off the park function of the tranny. It will also allow you to shift out of park easier on steep hills.

  3. Yea, the handbrake park should work on an automatic car.  Although you really only need to use it on steep hills.

  4. what do you mean by "handbrake park"?
