Who's sick of seeing perfectly healthy people park in handicapped parking? A lot of people who use handicapped hang tags only have one thing wrong with them.....laziness and obesity. Shouldn't we make it much harder to get these tags so the truly handicapped can benifit more from them? Who else is fed up with this flaw in our great American system?

  1. you can't see arthritis, heart disease, lung disease, liver disease, cyctic fibrosis,  bone cancer, kidney disease, lots of others and all can be reasons for using a handicapped sticker.  Whats the problem, you want that space???  And Loco Mexicano, you do need a paper filled out by a doctor(inMinnesota) to get a handicapped sticker for your vehicle. The doctor submits it ot the motor vehicle department.

  2. There are things that people are handicapped for that you can'f "physically see" unless they walk arond naked. They also may have emphesema or lung problems. Just because you can't see their handicap, doesn't mean they don't have one.

  3. Thak you for your queistion. The most important thing is awareness within your comunity. cultivate that.

  4. If they have a handicap sticker, then they may have a problem that you can not "see".  My Mom looks great - slim and pretty, but she has a bad set of lungs and can not walk far without needing to rest.

  5. They need to make it where a doctor has to fill out a huge amount of paper work to enable someone to qualify for a handicapped tag.  This needs to be required for any handicapped tag.  They need to also make it clear that a doctor giving this authorization is liable for giving authorization to people who do not have a true need.  The state board of medicine should take any complaints about doctors giving false authorization, with the loss of doctors' license and/or penalties being enforced.  The cost, time, headache, combined with doctor liability will make it much harder to get doctors to authorize and/or people to request.

People who have a "metabolism disorder" are the last ones who need a handicapped tag.  If this is their problem, they need to exercise even more than a normal person.  They should be made to park in the space furthest away!

The average life span is getting longer and longer for both men and women.  If we continue to give the handicapped tags out for all the minor problems elderly people have, 25 percent of our population wll be classified as handicapped.

The sad truth is, it will probably never change, and it might even get worse.  Our poiticians are the reason laws to better regulate this will never be passed because old people, fat people, and lazy people are seen as nothing but votes to them.

Edit:  doc z         Boo Hoo you poor baby,  you've had it so tough.  Typical American who has more than all others on this planet, but only wants and expects more!  Be glad you're still alive, count your blessings, and stop whining.  I hope I live to be 62.  If I do and I'm able to "work out", I for sure won't be using a handicapped tag!

  6. meee!

  7. Ever heard the song called: "I'm an @$$h*!e" ?

Well one verse is all about that. Lazy people like that will continue being fat and lazy, but one of these days they will just keel over and die because if it. So don't worry. They'll get theirs.

But then again, there maybe some people with a metabolism disorder. So although they may just appear lazy and Obese maybe they can't help it. Maybe there is something really wrong with them. More than meets the eye.

    Hope that helps.

  8. I have a pacemaker, which you can't see, Arthritis in hip, back and knee, which you can't see, I'm on dialisys, which you wouldn't know by looking at me. I have bad circulation in my legs so it's hard to walk any distance.

I work out, do yoga, swim and go to school studying Computer Science so I can work sitting down.

    I have a nice V-cut and a six-pack stomach and look d**n good for a 62 yr. old man.

I need that parking space, sonny, and it took me WAY too long to get it. The courts and beuracracy were pretty tough and I'm sick and in terriffic pain. It was inhuman what I had to go through to get disability...trust me, it's hard enough.

Just enjoy your youth and free health. Mine costs me.

  9. Wow, you are psychic and can tell just by looking at someone whether or not they are disabled? You should join the circus or something! Or maybe the disability police!

I know what you want to see is someone crawling away from the space in terrific pain or gasping for breath, but that's not the case for people who have various disabilities and diseases. There are so many disabilities that are not immediately apparent. You need to learn more about both disabilities and the bureaucracy one has to go through to get a special parking sticker.
