I just recently received a ticket for parking at a handicap spot, the spot has no blue markings on the curb, and at the time I parked I noticed no handicap sign on the street, for some odd reason when I came back , there was a small sign there. other people who parked on that same street are equally baffled, can I contest this ticket somehow?

  1. Surely your city has a system available for contesting parking tickets.  It's an ordinary part of due process of law.

  2. You can always contest a ticket.  Although it may be too late, your best course of action would have been to take down the names and numbers of anyone else who also got a ticket that day.  As it is, you'll just have to explain your story, mention the others, and hope they realize you're telling the truth.

You may also be able to contact the local department of transportation or City Hall and find out the date those signs were erected.  Having that evidence will definitely help your case.

  3. There were no signs when you parked and they put them up after you parked, just explain that and they will dismiss the fine, this is not allowed anywhere......

  4. You can contest any ticket. Proving your side is the question. In most places when the city, county or state put a sign up, the date when it was put up is usually on the back of the sign. If you can prove that the sign was put up while you were already parked there, you should be able to beat the ticket.

To answer your other question, the parking space can be marked by blue paint on the ground or curb, it can also be marked with a sign or the international handicap symbol(picture of a wheel chair) on the ground, curb or sign.
