Handing out Resumes???

Question

My boyfriend needs a job. his dad suggested he go around to office buildings and hand out his resume to the different tenants in the building.

My boyfriend and i thought this was totally tacky and desperate. what do you think?

It's been known to work.  A more sophisticated way is to find out what companies are in a specific building, go to their websites, see what jobs are being offered and apply either on-line or do a specific cover letter and tailored resume and mail it or drop it off.

That's an innovative and novel idea which sometimes work. You just need to do some sales talking too instead of just handing out the resume like flyers. Go ahead. And good luck!

What you are doing is tapping into the hidden Job market, Those jobs not yet advertized or created for you yet. This can be a very successful way to get a job, just be prepared. Make sure your resume is a winner and have an elevator speech (30 second to 2 minute sales speech about you) prepared about yourself.
