Handing out fliers for money?

I read in Seventeen magazine (I know, not the most reliable source haha) that if you walk into a business and offer to hand out fliers, they could possibly pay you. Do you think this would work?

there are many companies in this area who do flyer distribution and put flyers in flyer boxes in high end areas, typically they make about $600 for every 5000 delivered and will do about 7-8 flyers per run which equals about $4200 per month
