Handling Guinea Pigs- Old T-Shirt?

Hey! Yeah, I KNOW i ask alot of guinea pig questions; (lol only three) but, if I throw in a t-shirt i've worn for a few days, maybe a week, and chuck it in there, would they be more comfortable around me since they've gotten used to my scent?

I dont think that guinea pigs really connect to thier owners scent like other animals do. They just need to get used to being handled....

My guinea pigs used to squeek thier heads off when i got up in the morning cause they knew they were getting fed. It was so cute. They are great fun

I think the more you handle them, the more they will trust you

so just pick them up and feed them something they like everyday

your shirt may get caught on their feet, so not a good idea

I dont think it really works that way with cavies. If you are paying them alot of attention, especially if you are keeping them inside, and walking past their cage, talking to them, feeding them treats, trying to get them to take food from your hand, etc they should definately settle down sooner.

If you are keeping them inside they should be able to smell you there, and if you are handling them often and feeding them all their favorite foods it is a much better way for them to learn to trust you.
