Fulham and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Norway-c2974’s defender, Brede Hangeland feels that England aren’t cut out for the Euro 2012, as he feels the team was already falling all over the place in their friendly.
Norway and England took on each other in a friendly, in order for the teams to get into shape for the upcoming competition.
The match saw Roy Hodgson take to the field for the first time as England manager. The game ended with the Three Lions winning by one goal to nil, with Ashley Young scoring the only goal of the game.
Despite http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 winning the game, Hangeland feels the team just isn’t as good as it should be and that they would end up having their fair share of problems in the upcoming European competition.
The defender feels that the English players seemed to be unusually tired during the game, which was rather surprising to see.
When talking about the England squad, the Fulham defender is quoted to have said: "It's a good England team, but they look a little worn out after a long Premier League season.”
"I felt the same thing. It's not a good preparation for the Euros to play such a long and tough season as you do in England.”
"Even if it was a friendly you could see that the English players need a break."
He also admitted that England needed to work on their tactics, since the team allowed Norway to have far too much of the ball, which kind of surprised him and his team mates.
"It's unusual that a Norwegian team has so much possession," Hangeland observed.
"Normally we play defensively and wait for the opponent to make a mistake, but it was the other way around.”
Hodgson has already gone on to admit that he is looking to improve on the team’s performances and hopes to be able to get everyone running on a hundred percent in the Euro 2012.
However, in order for him to do that, he is going to have to carefully balance training sessions for the team, while allowing the tired players to rest and regain their fitness.
