  1. Lobelia is an annual so they will not come back next year.  If you have perennials in your pots and baskets, you can put them in your garage or basement and bring them back out in the spring, give them a good haircut and they will come back for you.

  2. Lobelia is an annual,so needs to be planted again each year. It depends upon what you have in your hanging baskets and pots: geraniums, for instance, can be restarted or saved throughout winter with care. Annuals cannot.

  3. You can take the seeds at the end of  August from the flowers, if you want - then put them in a small brown envelope and next spring re-plant the seeds.

But otherwise, rip out the flowers in the fall - keep the soil and baskets in your garage or basement for next year and start all over again. The soil will have to be fertilized again in the spring.

One annual that I love and it looks nice in flower baskets is "Heliotrope" it has a sweet baby powder scent.
