Hank Kuehne set to tee off at the Honda Classic
Hank Kuehne is in the field of the Honda Classic and will be teeing off on March 1, 2012, at the Floridian site of PGA National Champion Course, Palm Beach Gardens.
The Honda Classic is in the news these days, as the tournament officials are busy welcoming the leading players.
The field contains competent professionals, who are aiming to record their debut victories at PGA.
Kuehne shared this news on Twitter on February 22 and said, "And for those of you that are interested, I have committed to play the Honda, so I will be back playing the tour next week, I can't wait...."
He has not played since 2007. Last time, he lost his tour card, as he could not make the cut in three consecutive tournaments of PGA.
It was EDS Byron Nelson Championship, AT&T Classic and Stanford St. Jude Championship, where he was unable to make the cut and lost his tour card. He has not achieved it for about five years.
He also played at the Nationwide Tour in 2007, but failed again to deliver his best at three of the tournaments. His performance is reflected from the fact that he mostly finished over par.
His best finish was the 9th position at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open Pres'd by Dynamic Industries. Now after a five-year lay-off, he is returning to play at on the PGA.
The 36-year-old American turned professional in 1999 and, since then, he has won three events in total. He did not record a single victory on the PGA Tour.
In 2002, he won the title of the Texas Challenge, Telus Quebec Open and later he recorded consecutive wins at the Franklin Templeton Shootout in 2003 and 2005.
However, he is still looking to perform well at the leading tours, such as the PGA. The current field of the Honda Classic includes four major winners of 2011.
Similarly, Tiger Woods is another leading player in the field, who is the 14-time major winner.
Kuehne will be facing tough players at the PGA National Champion Course, Palm Beach Gardens.
It is an uphill task for him to win the tournament, but he has ample opportunities to finish among the top-25 players on the leaderboard.
