Gladbach pulled off a huge surprise last season by finishing in the top four in the German League under the guidance of manager Lucien Favre. They defeated the Bavarian giants, Bayern Munich both home and away on route to their
fourth-placed finish.
The German born player endured an operation on his groin but seems to be almost rehabilitated and healthy in time for the start of the Bundesliga. The attacker urges his team to reproduce the great game play and spirit they displayed
in the previous year.
The 28-year-old claimed to be happy with his progress and is in line with his set schedule. He does not want to rush back to playing football as it will hamper his recovery. The former Schalke player insisted he is able to do routine
exercises and the work-outs.
"I feel good; everything is going according to plan. We do not want to take any risks, but I think I can already do almost all the exercises with the team,” the forward was quoted as saying in an interview.
Gladbach wish to play pleasing game for the eye and are very happy with their style of play. The attacker claimed it would be a great experience to achieve what they did last year.
"We want to play attractive football like last season. We are running around on the field with a smile on our faces. It would be a dream if we succeed again," the Germany international stated.
