Hanley Ramirez possibly out from the season as infection appears on his right-hand – MLB News
The Miami Marlins’ third-baseman Hanley Ramirez can only curse those moments now when he pounded his right hand into the cooling fan in the dugout while in anger during a game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
As the infection grows and gets more severe, he has been withdrawn from the season by the Marlins now.
According to the reports, he will come back in the line-up after missing a reasonable number of games.
In Sunday’s game, Miami has played without him as Greg Dobbs took his place in the line-up.
As far as Hanley's performance in the season is concerned, he has produced 47 RBIs and 14 home-runs for the club so far. While his batting average is mediocre, in the context of slump the Marlins’ offence endured largely this year, he has been relatively
better.
Meanwhile, the Marlins’ manager Ozzie Guillen is extremely unhappy with Hanley, implying that he cannot blame anyone but himself. He has also talked about what happened in the first place with Hanley. Guillen stated that he is concerned about his right hand
since the incident has taken place.
“I was a little worried about it. Hopefully, it will come out soon. You can’t play around with that stuff. We have to prevent it from becoming a big deal. That’s the kind of thing you have to be careful. You have to take the time to cure it, and hopefully
it’s right away,” Guillen said.
Furthermore, Guillen is hoping that the infection will not become a big issue and that Hanley will come back soon. However, he has clarified that in case the infection stays on his hand, it will not be possible for Hanley to continue playing the way he will
like. Thus, in this case, chances for playing for the Marlins will be minimal.
An injury to him has appeared at a time when the Marlins are struggling on their way to improve the ranking on the National League East Division table.
In light of the fact that their right fielder Giancarlo Stanton is already injured, the Marlins cannot afford to witness another player missing important games in the season.
The Marlins will be trying their best to bring Ramirez back at the earliest.
