Hanley Ramirez shows full strength to lead the Florida Marlins – MLB News
It looks like Florida Marlins’ Hanley Ramirez is getting ready to lead the team to a successful 2011 MLB regular season and quite possibly a place in the playoffs.
As many players like Jorge Cantu, Cody Ross and Dan Uggla have left the team, it is now up to Ramirez to show his talents and lead the team into the next season. Ramirez is a tremendous player with amazing skills. His abilities are not questioned, as it
seems the only issue on the mind of the fans is the possibility of him leading the team with so much talent having left.
"Obviously, we're going to miss [Uggla]," Ramirez said. "Especially me, with him hitting behind me. But this is a business. We're going to miss those 30 homers and what kind of a person Uggla is. I think Infante is a good player, too. We've got to move forward."
The loss of some of their main veteran players like Uggla will no doubt have some impact on the Florida Marlins in the upcoming regular season. Although the Marlins have young talented players, it will be a tough task for Ramirez to get them all to work
together in a positive team effort.
However, instead of becoming frustrated or stressed by the situation, it seems that Ramirez is looking to this young team as a challenge. He understands that the players will be looking to rally behind him and to put in their own performances as well.
Marlins’ manager Edwin Rodriguez has show strong support for Ramirez as he understands his importance in the team as a leader. Rodriguez will be looking to Ramirez to captain the side and be a positive role model for the younger players in the Marlins’ squad.
"I'm very confident that he's going to be capable of doing that," manager Edwin Rodriguez said. "We all know what he can do on the field. I think that he's maturing."
Although Ramirez struggled with some injuries in 2010, he will be looking to stay healthy and participate in the work-out sessions with the rest of the team. Ramirez will be working hard to get himself and the team ready for the regular season.
It will be interesting to see how Ramirez manages to shape the young Marlins’ team without their veteran players. It may look like a tough task, but Ramirez is a player of the highest level and will not shy away from the challenge.
The Marlins will be looking to start the spring session successfully, as it will give the team some time to get the younger players some game experience against some of the top tier teams in the league.
