Hanley Ramirez’s new era begins with Los Angeles Dodgers – MLB Special
The seven-year Major League veteran third baseman Hanley Ramirez has been traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers and now will start his new era with the west coast team.
Ramirez, who is considered one of the best third basemen in the league, now will show his talents with the Dodgers.
His trade has come at a crucial time when the Miami Marlins were just settling down in the competition.
The Marlins, who had a poor first half of the season, are playing balanced game since approaching the second half.
However, trading Ramirez at this point was certainly a tough decision but still the Marlins management took it to increase their post season qualification chances.
According to some experts, this trade has been done solely regarding to Ramirez’s late poor performances. Marlins’ management was not happy with Ramirez’s performances and decided to trade him to the Dodgers.
The Dodgers on the other hand, were more than happy to land an experienced player who possesses extraordinary hitting skills and can change the results of any game with his performance.
Dodgers’ President of Baseball Operations Larry Beinfest said of Ramirez and explained in the media that why his presence will make the Los Angeles fans more excited, “Hanley’s in the prime of his career, an exceptional talent. You can see he’s in great shape, still the same kid we got to know seven years ago. Never thought he’d be hitting .246. Maybe it was time for a fresh start.”
He added, “Fans and all of you in the media, I think it’s fair to couch this however way you like. I will tell you how we feel internally, you can buy it or not, is that it wasn’t working, and if we were wrong, we were wrong. If people want to call white flags, they want to call selling.”
Before coming into the Dodgers franchise, the 28-year-old was playing with .251 hitting along with 14 homers, 49 RBIs and .329 OBP.
While his career hitting of .301 along with 148 homers, 483 RBIs and .374 OBP also makes him a very talented player in the league. It will be interesting to see what type of impact Ramirez will have for the Dodgers at this crucial time of the regular season.
