Hanley/Soares beat Almagro/Dlouhy 6-3, 6-2
Paul Hanley of Australia and Bruno Soares of Brazil cruised past Spanish/Czech pair of Nicolas Almagro and Lukas Dlouhy in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 into the second round of the Rogers Cup in Montreal on Tuesday. The Australian/Brazilian
pair needed just 53 minutes to undo their opponents in a one-sided encounter.
Almagro and Dlouhy were first to take lead, breaking the Australian/Brazilian team in the opening game of the first set and won their next service game to take a 2-0 lead. However, Hanley and Soares bounced back as they broke the
Spanish/Czech duo in the fourth game to equalise the score at 2-2. The Australian/Brazilian pair claimed three games in a row, breaking Almagro and Dlouhy again in the eighth game to win the set 6-3.
Hanley and Soares did not lose the winning momentum in the second set as they broke the Spanish/Czech combination in the third game and held their next service game, grabbing a 3-1 lead. The Australian/Brazilian claimed the second
break of serve in the seventh game and served out the set at 5-3.
The 192nd ranked team will meet fifth seeds Rohan Bopanna of India and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan in the second round.
Tsonga/Wawrinka defeat Dolgopolov/Norman 6-2, 6-4
French/Swiss team of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Stanislas Wawrinka knocked out Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine and d**k Norman of Belgium in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 to reach the second round. The match lasted for just 50 minutes.
Tsonga and Wawrinka dominated the proceedings from the start of the match, breaking the Ukrainian/Belgian pair in the third and fifth game of the first set to race to a 5-1 lead. The French/Swiss combination served out the set
in the eighth game, sealing it 6-2. Tsonga and Wawrinka served brilliantly, smashing three aces and capturing an incredible eleven of the twelve first service points in the first set.
The French/Swiss pair carried the winning momentum into the second set and broke Dolgopolov/Norman in the third game, clinching their next service game to take a 3-1 lead. Tsonga and Wawrinka did not lose their serve and maintained
the lead throughout the set, serving it out at 5-4. The French/Swiss duo did not lose any point on the second serve, grabbing all five of them in the second set. They won one of the two break points they received in the second set.
Tsonga and Wawrinka will face sixth seeds Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau in the second round.
