Hanmer springs - near Christchurch?

WHat is the best way to get to the Hanmer springs thermal pools if staying in christchurch and dont have access to a car.What else is fun to do in Christchurch.We are coming for a holiday in December over xmas and NYE.All answers welcome

yes a bus is proberly your best option but maybe you should ask at the place you want to stay, how they suggest transport as there are a lot of tourists who go there and different bus lines that take them

I hate to tell you but you will NOT be able to take the train to Hanmer Springs, as the train only goes up the coast and Hanmer Springs is inland!!

Bus is definately the best option and there would be several bus companies that go that way (as its quite popular and reasonably isolated).

I would book as I think that lots of people would go there over new year etc....but I remember staying in a camp ground, so if you have a tent maybe???
