Hannah Ross wins Women’s 200m backstroke gold: Day three – USA Swimming Sectionals, Iowa City
Hannah M Ross of Wisconsin Aquatics won gold medal of the Women’s 200m backstroke on day three of the USA Swimming Sectionals at the University of Iowa Aquatic Center in Iowa City on Saturday, July 21.
The 22-year-old Ross spoiled the party of her opponents in the 200m discipline as she cruised her way towards the finishing blockade for gold medal.
She displayed her astonishing efforts in the four-lap event and devastated hopes of her opponents by producing a nice time of 2 minutes and 16.44 seconds for the crown.
Her stupendous effort remained 0.94 seconds faster from Katharine P Anton of Minnesota Aquatics, who followed her on the finishing end for silver medal by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 17.38 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Ashlyn M Schoof of Southwest Aquatics, who remained only 0.20 seconds apart and settled on the finishing blockade for bronze medal by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 17.58 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was obtained by Monika J Stitski of Wisconsin Aquatics, who stayed 0.19 seconds slower from upsetting her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 17.77 seconds.
The 22-year-old Stitski was chased by Amanda L Petro of Alligator Aquatics, who remained two body lengths behind her and secured fifth position of the race by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 19.47 seconds.
Similarly, Petro was followed by Madison M Blaydes of Patriot Aquatic Club, who was 1.08 seconds apart and finished sixth in the swim by hitting the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 20.55 seconds.
Seventh position of the discipline was secured by Alexa E Harris of Lane Four Aquatics, who was 0.26 seconds away from her foregoing finisher and posted a time of 2 minutes and 20.81 seconds.
Harris was followed by Mackenzie L Buss of Shawano Community Swim Club, who stayed 1.09 seconds behind and concluded her swim in a time of 2 minutes and 21.90 seconds.
In addition, Ross was extremely pleased with her gold finish in the distant backstroke discipline.
