Question:

Hannah question again?

I've asked alot of these hurricane questions lately, and with Gustav no longer in my mind, my eyes and my concerns are on Hannah, and I'm deathly terrified. While maps show it only becoming a category one, that still produces a cluster of tornadoes...and the projected path freaks me out big time. I look at the map and I almost fainted...I don't want another Fay repeat, and this looks like it could be worse. Should I be concerned? What the h**l do I do? What are the odds it's going to hit Georgia? I'm tired of all this crazy weather...should I be safe? I looked at some historical maps and they all showed a curve towards North Carolina, but that doesn't make me feel any better. :( My main fear of all this is the tornado threat.

  1. THIGH'M SENDING HANNA INTO MONTANA.

  2. usually tornadoes form on the notheast side of the storm. if it were to hit georgia the north east side of the storm would be south carolina so georgia would get rain as well as some wind, but it wouldnt be too bad. fay caused alot of damage only becuase it held its strength over land for a very long time and also moved very slow

  3. When a storm like this comes on shore, there is always a good possability of tornados, even after the storm has weakened.

The good news (if you can call it that) is that even with a very active storm, the chance of you actually seeing a tornado are very, very small.  The watch areas are usually very large in scope so while a watch may occur, a warning (actual event) are small for your specific area.

Not to minimize your cooncerns.  I would be nervous too, but be prepared.  Invest in a weather radio and keep a close eye on your local news stations to give you the best information.

    Best of luck!
