Hannover 96 manager Mirko Slomka has claimed that there is still room for improvement despite a great start to the current season. He expressed his delight on winning the UEFA Europa League clash against Ukrainian side FC Vorskla
Poltava and insisted that the team played some sensational football in a tough away clash in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032.
Hannover defeated Vorskla Poltava 2-1 in the Europa League Group-B clash at the Vorskla Stadium. The visitors scored both their goals in the first-half through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christian-Pander-c9111. The hosts scored one goal
after the interval but Hannover put up a great defensive performance to claim all three points in the end.
Die Roten are currently second in the Group-B standings behind Standard Liege with four points. They have played two games so far and claimed four points with one draw and a win.
Slomka claimed that his side had a brilliant first-half in which they scored two goals and things looked comfortable but the performance after the interval was unimpressive and the team lacked the quality. He stated that the players
will learn from their mistakes after earning a vital win.
“We tried to be clinical, particularly when attacking, and we managed that in the first half, but after conceding in the second half, we became unsettled. Maybe we are just lacking a bit of experience in Europe in that instance.
We have got to learn from that. But in the end, we earned the win and that shows our quality,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The manager insisted that there are certain areas that need to be improved if the team wants to succeed in Europe this season. However, he admitted that the three points were well earned and he is happy with that.
“If we want to survive in Europe, then we have got to play two good halves and not just one. Nevertheless, we have got the three points and we have just got to be happy with that,” he concluded.
Hannover 96 will next face FC Copenhagen at the AWD-Arena on Thursday, October 20.
