Hannover 96 manager Mirko Slomka has stated that he is hopeful that his side will carry on with the brilliant form this season and will try to improve on the league position from the previous campaign. He also expressed his delight
on the win against Borussia Dortmund this past weekend and hailed the players for a sensational performance.
Die Roten downed champions Borussia Dortmund in a brilliant comeback as they scored two goals in the last four minutes to snatch all three points from the visitors. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Karim-Haggui-c20361 and Didier Konan scored the two goals and forced
a remarkable turnaround in the end.
Hannover now sit in fifth place on the Bundesliga standings table with 11 points with three wins from the six games played so far. They are four points adrift from leaders Bayern Munich.
Slomka insisted that it was a sensational performance against last season’s Bundesliga champions. He claimed that his side was rewarded for playing brave football in the end and admitted that he would have also been happy with
a 1-1 draw.
“BVB put in a dominating performance. We knew from the outset that we weren't going to have the majority of possession and instead played to our counter-attacking strengths. We noticed against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 that BVB were vulnerable and
in the end we were rewarded for our fighting spirit. We would have felt like the winners after the match even if it had finished 1-1,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
However, the manager warned his side against complacency and stated that it is too early to set the targets for the season. He added that the side should capitalize on the good start to the current campaign and keep up with the
good displays.
“It's fantastic that we're ahead of the title holders in the league, but we shouldn't be thinking about redefining our season targets just yet,” he concluded.
Mirko Slomka guided Hannover 96 to a fourth place finish last year and were marginally denied a qualification for the UEFA Champions League by Bayern Munich.
