Hannover boss Mirko Slomka calls for improvement against Hamburg

He admitted that it will be another difficult clash as Rothosen have been in great form off-late but remained hopeful of a good result.
Die Roten lost 4-1 to Wolfsburg on Saturday last week and suffered their fourth defeat of the season. Hannover’s last victory in the league was against leaders Bayern Munich in October and they have been unable to secure a win
after that. They are currently eighth on the standings table with 19 points from the 13 games played, winning five and drawing four.
Slomka claimed that the team played a disappointing match last week and wants the side to do well against Hamburg in the derby this weekend. He insisted that it will be a huge test for the club and rated it as a crucial match in
the club’s current campaign. The boss called for support from the fans and admitted that a full stadium would give great confidence to the players.
“We did not play well last weekend and we want to do better against Hamburg. This is the highlight of the weekend. The stadium is going to be full and our games against Hamburg have always been exciting, dramatic matches,” he was
quoted as saying in an interview.
The tactician added that Hannover’s record against Hamburg has been brilliant in the last decade with only three losses. He stated that the records and statistics will not mater when the teams play on the pitch so it will be a
tough game.
“I understand that our record against Hamburg has been good in recent years. That does not have any influence on this game as we need to fight for 90 minutes to gain an advantage,” he concluded.
The two sides will meet at the AWD-Arena on Saturday. Rothosen have been in great form off-late as they are undefeated in their last five matches in all competitions. They won their match against Hoffenheim last week at home also.
