Hannover boss Slomka laments tough schedule
The manager has stated that the team’s performance has dipped because of a very tough schedule in the Bundesliga and the UEFA Europa League.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hannover-96-c39492 manager Mirko Slomka has stated that the tough schedule in the recent weeks has resulted in his side’s poor form. The boss admitted that Thursday’s UEFA Europa League fixture combined with the weekend clashes in the
Bundesliga makes it hectic for the players to perform and that the team’s displays are being affected because of that.
Die Roten have slipped to eighth in the Bundesliga standings table with 22 points and have won five of the 16 games played. The side has lost four times in the current campaign and has been rather inconsistent in getting the results
this term as compared to the previous season when they finished an impressive fourth.
Slomka claimed that the travelling in the recent weeks has been very tough for the players as they have also been playing games in the UEFA Europa League. The team’s last two fixtures in Europe have been in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belgium-c2850
have been played on Thursday and Wednesday respectively.
The manager added that now there will be a third competition also coming up as Hannover also has to take part in the German Cup. So it will be three competitions for the team simultaneously.
“It's been tough for the players with all the travelling in the Bundesliga and above all in the Europa League. With the DFB Cup thrown in as well, we quite often had three games in three different tournaments
inside a week,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
However, the coach is confident that the team will put in their best efforts in the future games and get the required results. The tactician wants to end the first half of the season on a high and win the remaining three games
before the winter break.
“It's a big ask to be physically and mentally top-notch right on cue every time. For us, the challenge was to constantly adapt the training to the players' individual requirements,” he concluded.
Hannover only need a draw in their last Europa League match to qualify for the next round.
