Hannover’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ron-Robert-Zieler-c31761 set to make his Germany debut against Ukraine on Friday
Having been picked for the two friendly internationals against Ukraine and the Netherlands, Hannover shot stopper, Ron-http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tim-Wiese-c35108, the goalie is
one of the three custodians to be selected.
Zieler has long been keeping goal for the German outfit and is certainly one of the consistent keepers in the country. The player was recently rewarded for his good work by Joachim Low with a call-up.
The player has been presented with a huge opportunity to impress Low by giving outstanding performances in order to book his ticket for Euro 2012. Zieler is himself determined to justify his selection by keeping the opposition at bay, ideally, for the whole
of 90 minutes.
It has also been reported that Joachim Low has guaranteed the youngster some playing time on Friday despite having Manuel Neuer up his sleeves. Zieler has been predicted to be nervous at his first outing, but, is fortunate enough to have a goalie like Neuer
to help him out.
While talking to DFB website on his prospects of playing against Ukraine, the 22-year-old, further mentioned, "Of course I dreamt about this. But it seemed so far away for it to ever seem realistic and I just wanted to take small steps - to establish myself
in professional football and then become number one."
The player also mourned the death of former Hannover goalie, Robert Enke, who killed himself of depression. Enke was not the preferred choice for Germany and was mostly used as a substitute. This scenario was never accepted by the former keeper, who later,
went on to finish his life.
When asked about Enke’s tragic end to his career, Zieler stated, "I never got to know Robert. I was playing in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 when he took his life. It's a tragic story and all I can say is that I have felt at Hannover and here at the national team how much he
was respected by his team-mates and fellow sportsmen. Therefore, I am sure a lot of people will be thinking about him today.”
